Our loyal sports fans know that GrandCentral is the place to be for a great NFL game in the fall, or MLB in the spring, or your own private event game of Bocce or kickball to help fight the winter blues. But you may not know that underneath all that awesomely rowdy fun (see Brian’s Buffalo Bills Happy Dance on the bar) that goes down when crowds gather to watch our favorite teams go head to head, we have our tender, respectable, and dare we say teddy-bearish sides too.

The truth is, we are crazy about kids–in fact most of us are Dads and we want to do our part to help the young ‘uns grow up right. That is, to inspire them to become big crazy sports nuts too. It is the least we can do.

So we were all over it when HSC Pediatric Center’s Kids In Action program approached us about holding a bake sale fundraiser at Grand Central. A BAKE SALE? Did someone say “brownies”…”cookies”…”gooey-chewy things”??…Hello. OF COURSE! AAnnnnnnddd….we got to help kids.

And it went great. The best part is that it was such a simple thing to do and the funds raised will support this wonderful outpatient adaptive sports program for kids with special needs and their siblings. Making a difference in the lives of some kids that have to deal with bigger challenges in an hour than most of us have to deal with in a week or a lifetime–that’s how we roll at the Center of it All, here in Adams Morgan.
